Mala o Kilauea

Following the path of the Adventurer shaman

Register Now

This course takes place at Mala O Kilauea, a five acre estate on the slopes of Mauna Loa just a short drive from Pahoa. Its peaceful setting is perfect for strengthening shaman skills and exploring new avenues of communicating with nature and nature spirits.

The Adventurer shaman works with the forces of Nature and the powers of the mind for the healing of personal, social, and environmental conditions. The focus of this course is on reviewing the esoteric system of Huna, sharpening shamanic healing skills and applying those skills to immediate areas of tension in our lives, lives of people close to us and to the many challanges facing our ever changing world. Your instructors will be Susan Pa'iniu Floyd kumu (head teacher) of Huna International's huna courses, massage courses and hula troupe and Graeme Kapono Urlich, our Media Director, lead tech guy and huna and lomilomi teacher.

Susan and Graeme

  • In Session One you will review the concepts that are fundamental to the practice of Adventure shamanism, how to work with your four selves, and how to do Kahi Loa for yourself or for others, including animals!
  • In Session Two you will learn the Hawaiian understanding of time and how to travel to alternate points in time (past, future and parallel) to make changes that will effect us here in healing ways.
  • In Session Three you will learn the art of shaman dancing Hawaiian style. It is a form of Kulike or grokking (merging) that includes movement and role playing.
  • In Session Four you will learn the basic concepts of Kuhikuhipu'uone (Hawaiian Geomancy) and how to use them to harmonize personal and environmental energies.
  • In Session Five you will learn Kahoaka (Astral Travel) and how you can use this skill to help guide, teach or heal.

In addition to the shamanic healing work you will learn Hawaiian chanting, sacred hula, and other exercises for your personal development. Also, you will have the opportunity to participate in optional activities such as sunrise at Kilauea crater. The course will finish with a graduation celebration on Friday afternoon.
